1. Introduction

Welcome to North Bar Engineer. These Terms and Conditions govern your use of our website and services. By accessing or using our services, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please do not use our services.

2. Services

North Bar Engineer provides structural engineering consultancy services including but not limited to:

  • Structural calculations and design
  • Building surveys and inspections
  • Foundation design and analysis
  • Steel and timber frame design
  • Building control liaison
  • Project management and coordination

3. Professional Standards

All work is carried out in accordance with current British Standards, Building Regulations, and professional codes of conduct. Our engineers are chartered members of relevant professional institutions and maintain professional indemnity insurance.

4. Client Responsibilities

Clients are responsible for:

  • Providing accurate and complete information about the project
  • Ensuring site access for inspections and surveys
  • Obtaining necessary permissions and approvals
  • Implementing recommendations in accordance with our specifications
  • Notifying us of any changes to project scope or requirements

5. Fees and Payment

Fees are agreed upon before commencement of work and may be based on:

  • Fixed fee for defined scope of work
  • Hourly rates for ongoing consultancy
  • Percentage of construction costs for larger projects

Payment terms are typically 30 days from invoice date unless otherwise agreed. Late payments may incur interest charges at 8% above Bank of England base rate.

6. Intellectual Property

All drawings, calculations, reports, and other documents prepared by North Bar Engineer remain our intellectual property. Clients are granted a license to use these documents for the specific project for which they were prepared. Reproduction or use for other purposes requires written permission.

7. Liability

Our liability is limited to the extent permitted by law and our professional indemnity insurance. We accept no liability for work carried out by contractors or third parties, or for consequences arising from failure to follow our recommendations. Claims must be notified within 6 years of the date of service provision.

8. Termination

Either party may terminate services with written notice. Clients remain liable for fees for work completed up to the termination date. We reserve the right to terminate services immediately if payment terms are not met or if client conduct is deemed inappropriate.

9. Confidentiality

We maintain confidentiality of all client information except where disclosure is required by law, professional regulations, or with client consent. This obligation continues after completion of services.

10. Dispute Resolution

Any disputes will first be addressed through good faith negotiation. If unresolved, disputes may be referred to mediation or arbitration before legal proceedings. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

11. Website Use

When using our website, you agree to:

  • Use the site lawfully and not for any fraudulent purposes
  • Not attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
  • Not transmit viruses or malicious code
  • Not copy, reproduce, or redistribute content without permission
